According to foreign media reports, the Korea Institute of Carbon Convergence Technology and Kia Motors KIA Motors company announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) under which the two parties will cooperate to accelerate the application of carbon composite parts in the automotive industry.
According to reports, Kia Motors has opened a Composite Material Technical Center (Composite Material Technical Center) at the Composite Manufacturing & Technical Center of the Korea Carbon Fusion Technology Research Institute (KCTECH). Center), and will cooperate with KCTECH to carry out research on automotive composite parts. This research will use LIT (Light Induction Tool) machines from the French Roctool Group installed inside KCTECH.
Roctool says its LIT technology is a turnkey solution that eliminates the need for high-cost equipment such as autoclaves and compression molding machines. According to reports, this process uses induction heating shell tools, which can maintain high temperature and uniformity on the mold surface while withstanding high temperatures and severe cold.
As part of this research, KCTECH opened a LIT technology center in January last year in partnership with Roctool. The institute received a certificate from Roctool Corporation, certifying its capabilities in electronic and automotive component design and molding processes.
According to reports, Jeonju, South Korea, is becoming a leader in the carbon industry. KCTECH plans to carry out international research projects with various companies to develop mass production processes for the production of large automotive composite parts.
