Properties of thioester and phosphite antioxidants

Thioester and phosphite antioxidants are the main auxiliary antioxidants.

(1) Thioester antioxidants often include the following two types of dipropionates.

Thiodipropionic acid is then esterified with lauryl alcohol or stearyl alcohol (octadecyl alcohol) The above products are obtained. They are used together with the main antioxidants to produce a synergistic effect. Due to its low toxicity, it can be used to make packaging films. The dosage is 0.1%~1%.

(2) Phosphite antioxidant

Phosphite antioxidantIt is a commonly used auxiliary antioxidant. It has a good synergistic effect when used together with the main antioxidant. In polyethylene, it is also a commonly used auxiliary heat stabilizer.

In addition to the types of antioxidants mentioned above, there are also some types of antioxidants, such as reactive antioxidants , polymer antioxidants, etc. Reactive antioxidants are designed to solve the problem of extracting antioxidants from organic solvents and water. Most of these antioxidants are amine or phenolic antioxidants with reactive groups attached to them. During the processing of polymer materials, this reactive group can be combined with the polymer in the form of a chemical bond on the macromolecular chain. This brings about the characteristics of non-volatile, non-extracted, non-pollution and sustained antioxidant effects. This type of antioxidant is also called permanent antioxidant. Examples of this type of antioxidant include aromatic nitroso compounds, maleimide derivatives, allyl-substituted phenol derivatives, and acrylate derivatives.
