(Wacker) expanded the production capacity of HDK® brand fumed silica at its Burghausen production base, and expanded a production line for hydrophobic fumed silica specialty products . After the expansion, the production capacity of the production line will be increased by 40%. The investment amount for this expansion project is 1.4 million euros. Construction of the expansion will begin early next year and is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2017.

WACKER expands fumed silica production capacity
Hydrophobic special fumed silica products are used in printer toners. It improves the flow properties, charging performance and stability of the final product. This fumed silica product can be used to optimize the rheological and mechanical properties of specialty adhesives and specialty coating products.
