Additional 25% tariff! China raises taxes on primary forms of polysiloxane imported from the United States
The U.S. government has released a list of goods subject to additional tariffs, and will impose an additional 25% tariff on 1,333 items worth US$50 billion worth of goods exported to the United States.
Immediately, China launched a counterattack! The Ministry of Commerce issued an announcement that it would impose additional tariffs on imported goods such as chemicals, agricultural products, automobiles, and aircraft originating in the United States. The tax rate is 25%, involving approximately US$50 billion in China’s imports from the United States in 2017.
Including primary-shaped polysiloxane!!!
The United States is China’s largest source of polysiloxane imports. According to statistics from the National Silicon Industry Green Development Strategic Alliance (SAGSI), China imported 16,949 tons of polysiloxane from the United States in 2017, accounting for approximately 15.24% of China’s total polysiloxane imports!

This time China imposes import tariffs on primary forms of polysiloxane from the United States, which will restrict the export of related products from the United States to China, resulting in a further reduction in the supply of polysiloxane in the Chinese market. !And this will lead to a new wave of price increases in China’s already hot silicone market!
