German chemical company BASF has revealed that it plans to establish its first manufacturing plant in Myanmar next year to meet the demand for construction chemicals.
Located in Yangon and staffed by the company’s senior in-house architects, the new facility will specialize in the production of customized chemical solutions for the local construction market.
Christian Mombaur, Asia Regional Head of BASF’s Building Chemicals Division, said, “With the development of Myanmar’s construction industry, including high-rise buildings, roads and bridges, high-quality technology and construction chemistry solutions Demand will increase.
BASF’s past achievements in the region include Myanmar’s Thilawa Special Economic Zone, Yayushwa Hydropower Station, Myingyan Steel Plant and other major construction and infrastructure projects. Experience in the region and elsewhere in the world can be learned to support Myanmar’s development in the construction sector.
BASF opened a service office in Yangon last September. The project process still needs to be approved by Myanmar regulatory authorities.
