At around 7:30 a.m. on July 1, local time, a fire broke out during the opening of the fourth silane gas plant in Lake Mashu City. The cause of the fire was an oil fire in one of the three gas boilers in the factory. The fire was extinguished at around 10 a.m. that day. Fortunately, no one was injured and no chemical materials were leaked.
The fire at the REC Silicon Mashuko plant will affect the supply of silane gas and the production capacity of granular polysilicon produced using the FBR method. According to REC Silicon statistics, approximately 800MT of the third-quarter production capacity that was originally expected to reach 3,800MT will be affected; however, there is currently no impact on the fourth-quarter production capacity.
REC Silicon’s third silane plant, which was just launched in May this year and is almost in full production, will not be affected.
