Polyurethane, what exactly is it?

MDI and TDI are brothers. do you know? Both of them are also the main raw materials for the important chemical polyurethane (TPU).
As one of the most widely used synthetic materials in this century, polyurethane is closely related to your life. Today we use a novel way to present to you basic polyurethane knowledge that is closely related to work.
Polyurethane is everywhere

Polyurethane is widely used in the clothing industry. Its representative products are highly elastic fiber and leather products that are comfortable to wear, soft, stretchable and elastically designed.
For example: ski jackets, swimsuits, snowboards, sports shoe soles, etc.

In the home, polyurethane coatings give the surfaces of furniture, pianos and other musical instruments a beautiful sheen and provide solid protection. Flexible foam is widely used in products such as seat cushion materials, insulation materials for refrigerators, adhesives for food packaging, sealing materials for water purifiers, and disposable diapers. Polyurethane artificial leather, synthetic leather, and foam are used in bags and footwear, winning praise for their natural feel and durability.

In the electronics industry, it is used as a magnetic binder for audio tapes, video tapes, computer disks, recharge cards, and electronic tickets to increase recording density. In recent years, polyurethane adhesives have been used in printed circuits of mobile phones.
Various polyurethanes are widely used in all aspects of automobiles. In addition to roof materials with heat and sound insulation effects, car seat cushions to ensure comfortable driving, and vehicle bottom materials and sealing materials to isolate noise and vibration and maintain a quiet space, they are also used in instruments. It also plays a role in panels, door trims, cowl panels, seat backs, fenders, shock absorbers, oil seals, non-flat tires, and coatings.
In residential areas, rigid foam is used as the best thermal insulation material in walls, floors and roofs. In addition, it is also used in the construction of all-weather running tracks and golf courses.
The application of polyurethane in industrial materials is also an aspect that cannot be ignored. For example, after elastomers are molecularly designed to obtain optimal wear resistance, they can be used in office machines such as copiers and printers, rollers for papermaking, ironmaking, electroplating, etc., and can be made into various conveyor belts, hoses, films, and Thin film materials.
It is an indisputable fact that various synthetic polymer materials such as plastics and rubber are ubiquitous in our lives. However, among the many polymer materials, perhaps none can penetrate into every corner of our lives like polyurethane.
