On September 7, Shi Xiangli, equipment manager of the Equipment Management Section of Yangzi Petrochemical Olefin Plant, said that the company has recently successfully eliminated the vacuum degree of the ethylene cracking gas compressor turbine through technical research. Substandard operation problems are eliminated, the operating efficiency of the compressor is improved, and energy consumption is reduced.
Due to long-term operation and other reasons, the vacuum degree of the Yangzi Petrochemical ethylene cracking gas compressor turbine did not meet the standard, the efficiency was low, and the energy consumption was high. To this end, Yangzi Petrochemical’s Mobility Department took the lead and established a special research team to carry out technical research. First, the company invited testing units to use ultrasonic leak detectors to specifically detect and detect leaks in the compressor turbine to eliminate leaks. In order to completely solve the operational problems, Yangzi Petrochemical also invited Hangzhou Steam Turbine Factory and related scientific research universities to calculate the steam consumption of the entire compressor system and the rehydrator capacity to confirm whether the two capabilities match. Through accounting, it was found that the capacity of the rehydrator was insufficient. Therefore, the company added a start-up pump to improve the capacity of the rehydrator and fundamentally improve the vacuum degree.
The rehydrator is a heat exchanger that condenses turbine exhaust steam into water and maintains turbine vacuum. Its performance directly affects the thermal efficiency of the unit. The company also chemically cleans the rehydrator to improve heat exchange efficiency. At the same time, Yangzi Petrochemical conducts laboratory analysis on the quality of the compressor steam to analyze whether the impurities in the steam exceed the standard, and adopts various measures to improve the steam quality.
By implementing a series of key measures, Yangzi Petrochemical has effectively improved the vacuum degree of the compressor turbine, solved the compressor operating problems, improved the compressor operating efficiency, and achieved High-load and stable operation of ethylene equipment. From January to August this year, Yangzi Petrochemical’s ethylene output exceeded 550,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.58%.
